Gunfight on Assam-Meghalaya border: 5 Meghalaya and 1 Assam Forest Guard killed
Total six persons including five from Meghalaya and one Assam Forest Guard killed in the incident of firing in Assam-Meghalaya border. Meghalaya government suspends Mobile Internet services in 7 districts as per reports.
Total six persons including five from Meghalaya and one Assam Forest Guard killed in the incident. The injured persons rushed to hospital. Inquest conducted FIR registered by Meghalaya police, said Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma speaking to media today.
A magisterial inquiry will be initiated into the incident. I have spoken to Assam CM on the incident and he has assured cooperation, said Sangma.
An ex gratia compensation of Rs 5 lakh each will be released to the next of kin of the deceased individuals. Meghalaya government suspends Mobile Internet services in 7 districts for 48 hours from Nov 22 onwards, following the firing incident in Mukoh where four persons were killed, said CM Conrad Sangma.
Speaking on the incident Assam CM HB Sarma on, We have ordered a judicial investigation and have referred the matter to CBI. SP has been transferred and local police and forest officials have been placed under suspension.
